She's a founding member of the Houston Film Critics Society, formed in 2007, and also a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
Regina's become the "celebrity interviewer of choice" in Houston. In 2008 alone, she landed exclusive interviews with actor and Oscar-winning director Robert Redford, and Oscar-nominated actress Debra Winger ("Rachel Getting Married"). She also talked to actor and Oscar-winning director Kevin Costner ("Swing Vote").
At the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, she also covered many of the top fall movies. In Toronto she talked to the Coen Brothers ("Burn After Reading"), director Saul Dibb ("The Duchess"), composer Terence Blanchard ("Miracle at St. Anna"), and the cast of "Blindness" (Julianne Moore, Danny Glover, Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal), among others. Her biggest thrill was being able to say hello to Brad Pitt!
In November she interviewed People Magazine's 2008 "Sexiest Man Alive," Hugh Jackman, and director Baz Luhrmann in Los Angeles about their epic film "Australia."
In 2009 Regina's been busy! She attended her first South by Southwest film festival in Austin, TX, for the world premiere of "I Love You, Man" where stars Paul Rudd and Jason Segel appeared in person. She also interviewed star Hugh Jackman and director Gavin Hood about the blockbuster “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
Most recently she talked to star Michelle Pfeiffer and director Stephen Frears in New York about "Cheri." Regina also enjoyed lengthy interviews with Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer ("The Lion King") and Elliot Goldenthal ("Interview with the Vampire," "Frida"). She got to meet Daniel Radcliffe and the rest of the cast of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" at the New York press premiere.
Her career in broadcasting has lasted over 30 years. A native of New York City, she began as an announcer on the student radio station while an undergraduate at WBCR-FM at Beloit College in Wisconsin in the 1970s. She went on to a classical music program at WNUR-FM, Northwestern University's student station while studying for a master's degree in music theory.
Professionally, her first job was at WDAV-FM in Davidson, North Carolina (where she helped convert the station's format from "unformed student rock" to classical). Her Texas broadcasting history dates from 1981 and includes the position of Program Director at the former commercial classical station, KLEF-FM.
Regina came to KUHF/Houston Public Radio in 1990. "Music From The Movies" be heard worldwide through KUHF's "Global" internet stream at www.kuhf.org. Regina's new movie and DVD reviews can be found on her "Music From The Movies" webpage at kuhf.org.
